Number of Applications Dropped for JEE Mains

Number of Applications Dropped for JEE Mains

This year the aspirants sitting for JEE Mains exam may face less completion as the number of applicants has reduced to 11, 48,000, which is far more less than the previous year numbers. CBSE, the nodal body to conduct the exam has confirmed to the reports.

This declining trend has been emerged since four years. Less number of students registers themselves for the prestigious exam. Here are few facts about the number of applications received in recent years:

Year No. of Registrations
2014 13,56,000
2015 13,04,217
2016 12,07,257
2017 11,98,989
2018 11,48,000

This trend might be the result of the decision taken by All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE to shut down the colleges with less than 30% new admissions in past five years. The colleges having less than prescribed number of students will either be closed or merged with nearby colleges to improve the quality rather than quantity of technical education. A wise decision indeed.

This has impacted JEE Mains because it is one of the most sought after exam to get into the technical degree colleges and in the institutions of repute.

But this decline in number of application will not impact the decision of CBSE to close the registration window after the deadline and there is the least probability of extension of last date.

Those candidates who have registered for the offline mode attended the paper 1 in the morning while the paper 2 will be concluded in the afternoon shift. The official answer keys of this exam will be released on the last week of this month.

Approximately 12 lakh students are attempting JEE Main exam this year as compared to the 13 lakh of last year. Of the 12 lakh students, only 2.24 lakh students will be eligible for appearing in the JEE Advanced 2018 exam which is scheduled on May 20, 2018.

JEE Main has negative marking, so a wrong answer results in a deduction of 1 mark. Questions that have not been attempted do not face negative marking.

The online examinations will take place on April 15 and April 16, 2018. The Board will use different sets of question papers on the different dates of examination. Clearing the JEE mains and advanced papers, the candidates can get through in Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) courses. The exam is held in two stages— JEE main which is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and JEE advanced which is held by different IITs every year.

How to Beat Exam Stress

Greetings from PrepDoor!

We hope that you are reading this article in best of your health. In this trend of cut-throat competition, many of the students find themselves in grave stress just before the exam. And this stress piles up on the exam day which results in decreasing the score and put you in danger zone. It is not only you who is going through this phase. Every one of us might have faced such situation on any point in our lives. Moreover, every problem has the solution and same goes with this problem.

First of all lets us find the cause of the stress. It is either the fear of failing or to lose something. Accept it! It is “do or die” not “get there or die”. What if you couldn’t make it (worst case scenario)?  You will make it somewhere else where you are destined to be. But we can try to minimize this stress with the help of some suggestions. Here are the few:

  1. Take sufficient sleep: Always remember, sleep is must for better functioning of your brain. Growth hormones release only while you sleep and memory consolidates in this period. So, less you take the sleep more are the chances to forgetting the important facts.
  2. Drink ample amount of water: This is directly linked to your health. You can feel bit anxious if you haven’t drink water for long period of time. You can study better if you drink water in every 20-30 minutes and ensure that you have at least 8-10 glass of water.
  3. Yoga: This Indian art has marked its importance worldwide. Due to its best stress management qualities, meditation is accepted as best solution. Try to mediate for a while. You can either opt to lie down and close your eyes, simply relaxing your body and thinking something positive.
  4. Listen to the music: Research says that quality music always lift your mood up. Try to listen to some motivational songs which will keep your spirit high.
  5. Keep your diet healthy: This is true! If you will eat healthy during exam days it will help you to concentrate. Try to avoid fast foods as you can’t afford to fall ill during this taxing time. Eat green vegetables, fruits, green tea etc.
  6. Power nap can do wonder!  You might be surprised but it is the medicine of all time. Take a 15 minute nap after a stretch of 4-5 hours.

You can also consider the Pomodoro technique where you can study for 50 minutes and take a break of 10 minutes. It will not only keep you refreshed but also improve your concentration. You can keep the slot either 50/10 or 25/5 or even 45/15 according to you convenience.

Also talk to you family, friends and loved ones who will always there for you in any hard situation. Talking to them is a stress buster in itself.

Stay happy and healthy!

JEE Mains – Last minute preparation tips

With JEE Mains being just few days away, your anxiety levels, like most candidates’, must be going through the roof. But it is imperative that you stay calm during this crucial period and devise a study plan that keeps you focused and on track. We’re assuming that by now you must have covered all the major topics of three sections of the most competitive exam in the country and this is primarily the time to practice and revise for the final showdown. You have to optimize your preparation in this cut- throat competition.  So, here is the perfect and time tested strategy for the exam to maximize your score. Here are some JEE Mains preparation tips:

  1. Practice, practice & practice: Your last minute saviour! Here comes the role of mock tests and practice papers. If you have practiced the considerable number of mock tests then you must be aware of the weak areas in your preparation. Focus on such areas and give you best here. Don’t waste your time on the topics where you have come to a saturation point as this will not improve your score. There might be some aspirants who haven’t subscribe for any mock tests, a piece of advice for such candidates- go for a vast test series available on PrepDoor.com.
  2. Be wise, revise: Yes! This is the key. Make sure the topics you have prepared will not let you down in examination hall. This specially applies to the data based and conceptual section.
  3. Make a perfect time-table: Everyone might be suggesting this to you. But this time table will be slightly different from the one you have followed (or might not have followed) during previous preparation stage. Now put it in the highest gear and only do three things- study hard, sleep well and eat healthy. Everything else can be done after exam, it can wait.
  4. Previous year Question papers: You will go through the different questions and this will widen up your approach to the questions. Don’t start anything new. But go through the previous year question papers.
  5. Get a list of important topics: There are certain topics which appear frequently in exams. Get a list of such topics and prepare them well. PrepDoor provides you ‘Topic-wise tests’ for such purpose.

At last, don’t panic and enter the examination hall with peaceful mind. Do not attach everything on a question of life and death. All the best!

So don’t miss the opportunity when the best exam preparation website ‘Prepdoor.com‘ is conducting JEE-Mains Mock Test- All India LIVE Test on 30th March 2018.
